Frederick Little Fox is a singer/songwriter, bass player/percussionist and instrument maker.

His career in the Sydney live music scene began in the late 80s working as a stage manager with artists such as Stevie Wright and The Eurythmics.

The 90s saw Frederick record studio albums and tour the east coast with his original bands, before being introduced to Native American drumming and culture by visiting Elders.

In the process of responding to ‘his calling’, Frederick sat in circle with Elders and listened. He related to the stories and aspects of the Native American culture that he studied; that tugged at his heart and asked him to question everything.

Walking the Red Road on Mother Earth held a great responsibility, and he was prepared to take that on.

Participating in sweat lodges, vision quests, drum circles and other ceremonies and gatherings in those early days strengthened his awareness and understanding of how to walk his talk, uncover his gifts and know his truth.

His path unfolded in the mid-90s to lead men’s groups and run hoop drum making workshops and sweat lodges, all the while continuing to listen.

His work had a significant and sometimes even life-changing impact on many people over the years, so he’s been told. Music and song have always been a key feature of Little Fox’s work and supporting people to find their own path which has resulted in much gratitude and joy.

Little Fox Drumming began in the 2000s, bringing educational and interactive music sessions to young children featuring drumming with Native American hoop drums and African djembes, plus age-appropriate cultural stories and artefacts.

Frederick’s passion for making Native American-style love flutes and hoop drums along with re-skinning djembes provides others with accessibility to experience the gifts these instruments bring. He is also a skilled leather worker making pouches, medicine bags, drum beaters and rattles that hold an underlying energy to support healing and open the heart.

Today, Little Fox has teamed with Aware Wolves to offer group tribal drumming to those who feel called.
